Do you enjoy walking and love to discuss books? Join the Southwest Library for a nature walk in a local park followed by a discussion of A Land Remembered by Patrick D. Smith. In this best-selling novel, Patrick Smith tells the story of three generations of the MacIveys, a Florida family who battle the hardships of the frontier to rise from a dirt-poor Cracker life to the wealth and standing of real estate tycoons. A Land Remembered has been ranked #1 Best Florida Book eight times in annual polls conducted by Florida Monthly Magazine.
Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Light refreshments provided. Please meet at the Southwest Library for carpool to a local park walking trail. Registration required. The Southwest Branch opened on March 21, 1989 in a beautiful Mediterranean style building designed by Schweizer and Associates Architecture Firm, who also designed the Orlando Public Library. Serving the Dr. Phillips and Metrowest communities, Southwest is near International Drive and the attractions. Southwest is a popular place for local adults, children, students and tourists.
