Begin a hand knit shawl to keep you warm through a change of seasons. Students are required to bring materials and the pattern.

  • Class Duration: 6 days, 1.5 hours per day
  • Age Requirements: 13-Adult, 11-12 with accompanying adult
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Let's Knit Lace
  • Required Skills: Advanced knitting skills (including casting on, the knit and purl stitches, yarn overs, and binding off)
  • Materials Fee: None
  • Out of District Fee: $60 (includes class and materials fees)

During class, students will learn skills to begin 1 triangle of the shawl (the completed shawl requires 3 triangles).

Required Materials: Students must bring the Pattern: Berkshire Wrap by 1dogwoof.com AND the following materials to complete 1 triangle of the shawl.

  • At least 400 yards of light worsted weight (size 3) yarn, preferably from a matching dye lot
  • Ring Stitch Markers
  • US Size 7 40-inch circular needle

*Consult pattern below for required length of yarn and needles for all three triangles of the shawl.

About the branch

The Southwest Branch opened on March 21, 1989 in a beautiful Mediterranean style building designed by Schweizer and Associates Architecture Firm, who also designed the Orlando Public Library. Serving the Dr. Phillips and Metrowest communities, Southwest is near International Drive and the attractions. Southwest is a popular place for local adults, children, students and tourists.
