Keep your toes toasty with house slippers. Learn how to work in the round using the Magic Loop technique, as well as how to shape your slipper with three decrease stitches.

  • Class Duration: 3 days, 1.5 hours per day
  • Age Requirements: 13-Adult, 11-12 with accompanying adult
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Let's Knit Level 2
  • Required Skills: Casting on and off, as well as the following stitches: knit and purl
  • Materials Fee: None
  • Out of District Fee: $30 (includes class and materials fees)

Note: An accurate foot measurement is required for this class. Be prepared to measure your foot or bring a foot measurement from the back of the heel to the longest toe to the first class.

Required Materials: Students must bring the following materials to complete the project: 

  • At least 200 yards of worsted/medium weight (size 4) yarn
  • Size US 7 (4.5mm) circular needles with at least a 32" cable

Note: Basic knitting skills (including casting on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, and binding off) are necessary to start this project.  New to knitting? Check out our beginning Knit It series of classes at www.ocls.info/classes.

The Orlando Public Library is the headquarters and resource center for the Orange County Library System. The Library has been located at this site since its beginnings as the Albertson Public Library in 1923. Public Reference Departments in the Orlando Public Library include Children's, Library Central, and Learning Central. The Children's Library offers spacious areas, special programs, computers and story rooms for our youngest readers and readers to be. The Technology and Education Center is located on the second floor and includes the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity. The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
