Storytelling is for everyone! A well told story helps you to stand out. Whether you are looking to fine-tune your narrative-skills, brand your business, improve your job-interviewing skills or overcome your fear of public speaking, storytelling is for you. This class is designed to teach you how to take personal experiences from your life and make them identifiable with an audience. You will learn the basic elements of telling a narrative story, how to be authentic on stage, how to take an audience by surprise, and how to create a message that resonates with people. Classes will include verbal and written exercises, examples of performances from some of the finest storytellers, and techniques to prepare you for a performance of your own story.
What will you get out of this class? At least one polished 5-7-minute story that could be the start of a personal essay or even a one-person show. The class will end with a graduation showcase where you will perform your story in front of a live audience on the Chickasaw Library stage.
Registration is required. Attendance is required at all workshops during the six week series.
