Alafaya - Computer Lab

Make adorable mini to use as key fobs, backpack hangers or ornaments. Choose from Yoda, Princess Leia or Stormtrooper designs.

  • Class Duration: 2 hours
  • Age Requirements: 13-Adult, 11-12 with accompanying adult
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Let's Crochet in the Round
  • Required Skills: Chaining and working in the round, as well as chaining and single crochet stitches
  • Materials Fee: None
  • Out of District Fee: $10 (includes class and materials fees)

Required Materials: Students must bring the following materials to complete the project:

  • 20 yards of worsted weight (size 4) yarn in fern green (Yoda), white (Stormtrooper), beige (Leia) and black
  • G (4 mm) crochet hook
  • Small amount of fiber fill

About the branch

The Alafaya Branch has a long history of providing library services to the East Orange County community. The branch originally opened in 1965 as the Azalea Park branch, situated on Lake Barton Road. From the 1970s through the 1990s the branch provided library services from shopping center locations. Ground was broken in January 1999 for a new branch, designed to be the prototype branch for future Orange County Library System branches. Opened on February 1, 2000, the Alafaya branch was funded by a Florida Library Construction Grant.
