Alafaya - Computer Lab

Celebrate your love of Star Wars™ everyday with The Child embroidery pattern. Frame this project to add to your decor or stitch it on a tote bag to complete your wardrobe.

  • Class Duration: 2 hours
  • Age Requirements: 13-Adult, 11-12 with accompanying adult
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Let's Embroider Level 2
  • Required Skills: Ability to hoop fabric and transfer a design
  • Materials Fee: None
  • Out of District Fee: $10 (includes class and materials fees)

Required Materials: Students must bring the following materials to complete the project:

  • Cotton floss in the following colors: black (DMC 310), brown (DMC 832), green (DMC 703), pink (DMC 225)
  • Size 10 inch (25.4 cm) hoop
  • Size 5 embroidery needles
  • 12 inch (30.48 cm) square cotton cloth such as muslin or quilting cotton OR cotton tote bag (such as Medium Tote)

Note: Beginning embroidery skills are necessary to be successful in this class.  New to embroidery? Check out Let's Embroider Level 1.

About the branch

The Alafaya Branch has a long history of providing library services to the East Orange County community. The branch originally opened in 1965 as the Azalea Park branch, situated on Lake Barton Road. From the 1970s through the 1990s the branch provided library services from shopping center locations. Ground was broken in January 1999 for a new branch, designed to be the prototype branch for future Orange County Library System branches. Opened on February 1, 2000, the Alafaya branch was funded by a Florida Library Construction Grant.
