Meet local artist Milkos G. Cruz. He will display his art and speak about his upcoming exhibition on the subject of Asian culture and ancient Chinese history. Light refreshment will be served.
Milkos Gabriel Cruz Cruz was born on October 1, 1976, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He has lived all his life on 'The Southern Pearl'. His artistic study began in 1983 when he learned to draw by copying and practicing observed art. In 1985, his parents purchased the Encyclopedia Cumbre and used it to homeschool him, which impassioned him with an interest in history and religion. He was sent to formal schooling at the Miguel Poe School of Arts from 1984-86 where he acquired knowledge of the Visual Arts and studied the lives of artists such as Jose Campeche and Francisco Oller, and European artists from medieval times to the Victorian and Romanticism eras.
From 1988 to 1992 Milkos studied animation and was then accepted to the Fine Arts School of Ponce in 1992. After graduating from the 12th grade, Milkos entered the Interamerican University of Ponce. Unfortunately, his parents could not afford for Milkos to complete a fine arts degree. Instead, he continued to study computers and communications at the Trinity College of Ponce from 1998 to 2000.
In 2001 Milkos moved to Kissimmee where he stayed until moving to Windermere in 2004 when he began at Disney World. In 2008, he began making portfolios for children's books illustrators, and authors. He illustrates in watercolor and pencil. His most recent portfolio focused on Canadian Impressionism. In the future, Milkos will create art based in Poland, China, Finland, Thailand, Russia, Armenia, Latin America, Japan, Modern art, and Sci-Fi Concept Art.
