Orlando at the time of the Alberton Library’s opening had four operating movie theatres. Patrons of the original Albertson Library could have easily walked from the library to theatres like the Beacham (located on Orange Avenue), or the Grand Theatre and the Phillips Theatre (both located on Pine Street). In 1923, each of these comedians had two movies that premiered (Chaplin: The Pilgrim, A Woman of Paris; Keaton: Three Ages, Our Hospitality; Lloyd: Safety Last!, Why Worry?) Learn about and see the work by these comedians, connect the 2023 Orlando community to the Orlando of the 1920s via popular culture.
