Prior to reserving time on FabLab machines, users are required to successfully complete an orientation and a brief thirty minute assessment.
Please choose the machine you wish to be tested on when registering for this session.
3D PRINTER: The assessment will cover 3D Printer skills and workflows, including: configuring slicer software (infill, rafts, supports, extruder), exporting G-code, loading/unloading printer filament and starting/stopping a print.
Class Duration: .5 hours. You must be present at the scheduled start time to be admitted.
Age Requirements: Adult, Teens 16+
Assessment Registration Requirement: To register for this assessment, cardholders must attend the General Orientation for the Melrose Center, the 3D Printer Orientation, and must be at least 16 years of age. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18+ years of age).
Recommended Prerequisite: 3D Design and Printing with Moments of Inspiration Level 1 and Level 2
Required Skills: Basic Computer Skills, 3D Design Software skills

ORION LASER CUTTER: The assessment will cover Laser Cutter skills and workflows, including: importing files, safety guidelines, venting equipment, cutting/engraving parameters and cutting/engraving operations.
Class Duration: 1 hours. You must be present at the scheduled start time to be admitted.
Age Requirements: Adult
Assessment Registration Requirement: To register for this assessment, cardholders must attend the General Orientation for the Melrose Center, the Laser Cutter Orientation, and must be at least 18 years of age.
Recommended Prerequisite: 2D Design for CNC Milling Level 1 and Level 2

SILHOUETTE CAMEO 4: The assessment will cover Silhouette Cameo 4 skills and workflows, including: importing files, safety guidelines, cutting/engraving parameters and cutting/engraving operations.
Class Duration: .5 hours. You must be present at the scheduled start time to be admitted.
Age Requirements: Adult. Teen 16+

CNC MACHINE: The assessment will cover CNC Machine skills and workflows, including: Cut2D files, G-code formatting, safety guidelines, Carbide software, cutting parameters and cutting operations.
GLOWFORGE 3D LASER PRINTER: The assessment will cover Glowforge skills and workflows, including: importing files, safety guidelines, venting equipment, and laser operations.

The Orlando Public Library is the headquarters and resource center for the Orange County Library System. The Library has been located at this site since its beginnings as the Albertson Public Library in 1923. Public Reference Departments in the Orlando Public Library include Children's, Library Central, and Learning Central. The Children's Library offers spacious areas, special programs, computers and story rooms for our youngest readers and readers to be. The Technology and Education Center is located on the second floor and includes the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity. The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
