Chickasaw - Lab

Use basic knit stitches to knit this chic dishcloth. This project aims to introduce how to decrease in a pattern. Students are required to bring tools and yarn.

We will be knitting dishcloths based on the pattern referenced: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/delightful-dishcloths. [Please Note: Students must bring a printed copy of the pattern or be able to access it on a mobile device]

  • Class Duration: 1.5 hours
  • Age Requirements: 13-Adult
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Let's Knit Level 1
  • Required Skills: Beginner knitting skills, including casting on, knitting, knowing how to place a stitch marker, and binding off.
  • Materials Fee: None
  • Out of District Fee: $10 (includes class and materials fees)

Required Materials: Students must bring the following materials to complete the project:

  • Yarn: approximately 75g of cotton yarn in 4 ply / fingering weight for each dishcloth in any color. Suggested yarn.
  • Needles: Set of size US Size 6 (4.0mm) knitting needles
  • Scissors
  • Stitch markers (ring and locking)
  • Tapestry Needle

About the branch

LYNX Bus Link 15 Curry Ford Road / Valencia College East

 

The Chickasaw Branch is the newest addition to the Orange County Library System. It is located in east Orange County on North Chickasaw Trail near the corner of Valencia College Lane. The branch is minutes away from several educational institutions (including elementary and middle schools and Valencia College) making it a popular spot for students of all ages. This library boasts several unique features including a pebble chime, modern architectural awnings and two outdoor decks where the community can relax and enjoy our great Florida weather. Opened on July 18, 2015, the Chickasaw Branch was funded by a Florida Library Construction Grant.
