Let's create a modern scarf for your first project. We'll practice creating neat knits and alternating knit & purl stitches to create ribbing. *Students are required to bring tools and yarn.*

This is a 2-day class series running Fridays, September 1 & 29, from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Get started with a few basics, and plenty of practice! The Wheat scarf by Tin Can Knits has plenty of garter and ribbing to allow new knitters to build and reinforce skills.

  • Class Duration: 2 parts, 2 hours per part
  • Age Requirements: 13-Adult
  • Recommended Prerequisite: Let's Knit Level 2
  • Required Skills: Someone who grasps the most basic stitches and can finish simple patterns with aid.

**Required Materials: Students must bring the following materials to complete the project:

  • Pattern (please print out a copy and bring to class): Wheat Scarf by Tin Can Knits
  • Yarn: 400 yards of size 4/medium weight yarn
  • Needles: Size US 8 (5 mm)
    Ring/round stitch markers

Note: Knitting skills are necessary to be successful in this class. New to knitting? Check out Let's Knit Level 1.

Level Description
Beginner Someone who grasps the most basic stitches and can finish simple patterns with aid.
Confident Beginner Someone who easily handles standard stitches and can follow simple patterns.
Intermediate Someone who can follow most patterns with ease, is able to read stitches and charts, and to whom working in the round is no longer a challenge.
Advanced Someone who can adjust patterns to their own preferences, substitute yarn, and produce neat results consistently in flat, round, lace, and three-dimensional projects.
