Engage in a dynamic discussion and a themed activity based on "I Survived: The Children's Blizzard 1888" by Lauren Tarshis. Recommended for ages 9-12. Registration required.
The Tween Book Club will focus on a different tween read each month. This month's pick is I Survived: The Children's Blizzard 1888, written by Lauren Tarshis.
When John Hale's parents moved from Chicago to a farm in the Dakota Territory in the late 1880s, he was not happy (too hot in summer, too cold in winter, and that is just the beginning); but after a year, and now eleven, he has settled in and made some friends at school--but when a sunny day in January 1888 turns abruptly into a deadly blizzard he will need all his strength and courage to survive what became known to history as The Children's Blizzard.
This month participants have the option to read the featured book, or any book in the I Survived series by Lauren Tarshis. Participants will engage in a lively discussion about different aspects of the book, followed by a themed activity. Recommended for ages 9-12. Registration required.
